ALBERTA, Canada — A volunteer firefighter died Wednesday after suffering a cardiac arrest while responding a vehicle fire.
The Edmonton Journal reported that firefighter Donald Bamber, 58, was transferring water between tanker trucks when he suffered a medical emergency, which resulted in a fatal cardiac arrest.
Emergency crews did CPR at the scene, but firefighter Bamber could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to the report.
Fire Chief Randy Schroeder says Bamber was a valued member of the fire department.
Firefighter Bamber has been a member of the Lac Ste. Anne County Fire Services District 4 since May 2013. His son and son-in-law are also members of the department, according to the report.
