MILFORD, Texas — Some residents in the North Texas city of Milford are being evacuated after an 10-inch gas line caught fire and exploded Thursday morning.
According to early reports, the gas line exploded in the Ellis County city. There may also be a second pipeline that has the potential to explode. As a precaution, at least three homes were evacuated, along with students in the Milford Independent School District. About 200 students were transferred to the Italy Independent School District.
The Sheriff’s Department has confirmed to CBS 11 that no one was hurt as a result of the explosion. The fire has been contained to a farm field and fire fighters intend to let the fire burn itself out. A one mile area surrounding the gas line has been blocked off as a precaution. Meanwhile, Hwy 77 & FM 308 are shut down.
