Film on Yarnell Hill firefighters in the works

Josh Brolin and Miles Teller are set to star in the reality-based film about 19 Granite Mountain Hotshot firefighters who died

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Hollywood stars Josh Brolin and Miles Teller are set to star in a movie about the Yarnell Hill fire of 2013, one of the deadliest wildfires in U.S. history.

Entertainment Weekly reported the movie will be titled “No Exit.”

The film will be centered on the Arizona firefighters, known as the Granite Mountain Hotshots, who lost 19 of their 20 crew members fighting the Yarnell Hill fire in 2013.

The firefighters were on the ground battling the flames when the winds shifted and the fire changed course, heading straight toward the town of Yarnell. The fire commander ordered the firefighters to try to cut off the fire before it reached the town. The fire caught the crew before they were able to reach Yarnell; 19 firefighters were killed.

The movie will be directed by Joseph Kosinki and was written by Ken Nolan, the writer of “Black Hawk Down.”

A date has not yet been set to begin production on the film.
