JILAVA, Romania — A firefighter was killed while battling a shoe factory fire Monday.
The firefighter was responding to the warehouse fire when an outer wall collapsed on top of him, reported the Romania-Insider.
The building contained large quantities of flammable materials and emitted heavy smoke.
Around a dozen fire trucks responded to the scene to contain the fire, which spread to over 2,000 square meters.
Prosecutors have begun a criminal investigation regarding the circumstances of the firefighter’s death.
The shoe factory, owned by an Italian investor, did not have fire insurance on the building; damages may amount to several million euro.
