Firefighters save window washers from high-rise

Crews were able to bring the workers into the building through a window; the operation took about an hour

NEW YORK — Firefighters have rescued two window washers who got stuck on a scaffold near the top of a New York City high-rise.

The Fire Department of New York says the workers became trapped near the 62nd floor of the Manhattan building at West 54th Street and Broadway at around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A department spokesman says firefighters were able to bring the workers into the building through a window.

The rescue operation took about an hour.
