DURHAM, N.C. — Fire destroyed an unoccupied house Tuesday morning on Liberty Street in East Durham, Durham fire officials said. A firefighter suffered a minor injury.
Firefighters were called at 6:25 a.m. to the house at 1203 Liberty St. and found the house fully engulfed in flames, Deputy Chief Dan Curia of the Durham Fire Department said.
Twenty-four firefighters from four stations were at the scene for three hours. A firefighter slipped and fell at the fire, but the injury was minor, Curia said.
No one was in the 1,800-square-foot, single-story house when firefighters arrived after being notified of the fire by Durham police on patrol.
Curia said a fire investigator was trying to determine the fire’s cause Tuesday.
