SAN FRANCISCO — A large fire broke out in a Mission District apartment building Friday morning, causing two minor injuries to firefighters before it was contained, officials said
The fire was the second major blaze in the neighborhood in as many days.
Around 9:30 a.m., fire crews responded to an apartment building at 145 San Jose Avenue, near the busy intersection of Valencia and 24th streets. Reports on social media showed flames climbing the back wall of the three-story, six-unit apartment building.
The fire quickly grew and firefighters called a second alarm, said Jonathan Baxter, a spokesman for the fire department, before it was contained at 10:08 a.m.
Two firefighters suffered minor injuries, though it wasn’t clear how they were hurt. No civilians were injured, but the Red Cross was en route to the building to help those displaced, Baxter said.
On Thursday, a three-alarm blaze damaged two buildings on 17th Street near Guerrero Street before it was brought under control.
