WASHINGTON — Three firefighters were injured Tuesday while battling a two-alarm blaze at a three-story building.
Two firefighters were treated for heat-related injuries, and a third was treated for a sprained ankle, reported WJLA.
DC Fire and EMS said there were no other injuries. Around 12 people have been displaced from their homes.
Photos from DC Fire and EMS captured the fire, and smoke could be seen for miles.

“We don’t know the cause, we won’t know the cause until our investigators get in there,” said DC Fire Chief Gregory Dean.
When asked about the sweltering heat, Chief Dean said, “The firefighter are wearing all their gear, they’re getting dehydrated pretty quickly. We’re taking them to the cooling buses; we’re rehab-ing them. We’re bringing in additional operators to maintain control until the fire’s out.”
