FORT WORTH — A Fort Worth firefighter was taken to the hospital with burns to his hand after an early Friday morning house fire, a fire official said. The firefighter received treatment but the injury was not life threatening, said Carol Jones, a spokeswoman for the fire department.
Firefighters responded to the fire about 4:30 a.m. at a residence in the 3900 block of Littlejohn Avenue in southeast Fort Worth. When they arrived, they found “heavy fire showing” and began an aggressive attack, Jones said.
After the firefighters entered the home, a “flashover” occurred and one firefighter was burned on his hand as they tried to retreat, she said.
