ENTIAT, Wash. — A firefighter died Monday after falling ill while fighting the Wenatchee Complex fire in Wash. state.
The unidentified firefighter, who was working as timber faller, was treated at the scene by medics and transported to a nearby hospital Monday afternoon, according to KING5.
He later died in the evening.
More than 4,000 firefighters are currently working to contain dozens of wildfires in central Wash. that were mostly sparked by lightning last week. The fires have prompted evacuation warnings and have severely worsened air quality.
