BOUNTIFUL, Utah — A fire burned through a floor and caused perhaps $100,000 worth of damage to a house in Bountiful late Friday.

About 11 p.m. Friday, the owner returned to his home near 1100 S. Main St. and found smoke spewing from the roof, said South Davis Metro Fire Battalion Chief John Hauze. Firefighters arrived and found the fire was in the basement.

One firefighter fell in the blaze and suffered smoke inhalation when the mask was knocked off his face, Hauze said. Hauze said the firefighter will be OK.

Hauze said firefighters haven’t determined what caused the blaze. The house is salvageable, but the fire burned through the basement and destroyed the ceiling and floor separating the basement and first story.
