OREGON, Wis. — A Wis. firefighter had a near miss while working the roof of condominium structure fire. The firefighter fell partially through the roof, but was held on to by another firefighter until two others could assist with the rescue.
According to a news release from the Oregon Area Fire & EMS District, the firefighter was taken to the hospital along with another firefighter who suffered heat-related injuries. No information on either’s condition was available.
Arriving units found heavy fire and smoke coming from one of the six condos, the release said. The occupants were not at home and no other injuries were reported.
According to the Cap Times, firefighters were battling a two-acre brush fire when the call came in for the condo. More than 50 firefighters from 11 departments worked the two fires.
