HINSDALE, Ill. — Saving a 91-year-old woman from a fire is not an experience that Hinsdale firefighters/paramedics Dan Majewski and Don Newberry are likely to forget, and others are not either.

The two men were honored recently when they each received the Medal of Valor from the 100 Club of DuPage County, a non-profit organization that provides assistance to law enforcement and fire personnel who have been injured, killed, or stricken with illness or other calamity while living or working in the county, according to the club’s website.

Awardees are selected from numerous emergency calls that are submitted by fire and police departments in the county. The club made the selection in collaboration with the DuPage County Fire Chiefs Association.
