PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. — A Prince George’s County firefighter avoided injury after falling through the first floor into the basement of a single-family burning home Saturday morning.
The Washington Post reported that the firefighter was working in the home’s first floor when he fell through a weakened floor to the basement. He sent out a mayday and other firefighters on scene quickly located him. Paramedics evaluated him and said he was uninjured.
Fire officials said there were no reports of injuries to any firefighters or civilians.
The house was vacant and officials said it sustained an estimated $50,000 in damages. The cause is still under investigation.
