Wis. firefighter injured in ceiling collapse

The firefighter was treated and later released from the hospital; the cause of the fire is under investigation

RACINE, Wis. — A firefighter was injured in a fire Sunday night at a vacant home.

Journal Times reported that a neighbor reported the fire after seeing smoke coming from the second story. The Racine (Wis.) Fire Department extinguished the fire within 20 minutes, with damage limited to a room on the first floor and a room on the second floor.

A firefighter was hurt after part of the ceiling he was removing fell and struck him in the face. He was treated and later released from the hospital.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The home was undergoing renovations at the time of the fire.
