MITCHELL COUNTY, Texas — The Fire Chief from the Westbrook Volunteer Fire Department in Mitchell County was stabbed multiple times early Wednesday morning, according to the Mitchell County Sheriff.
He says the Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a person on the road waving a shotgun, and there were no deputies available, so the Fire Chief, Brandon Hale, 34, responded to attempt to locate the subject.
When he arrived on scene, no subject was present, so a deputy went to check a house nearby where the subject could have retreated to. While the deputy was checking the house, Chief Hale was talking to a driver who was inside a vehicle.
