HIALEAH, Fla. — The vice president of a Fla. fire union faces a two-day unpaid suspension over pictures he posted on Facebook.
Hialeah Firefighter Eric Johnson posted pictures of his underage children on Facebook carrying sealed bottles of alcohol and asleep on top of a Corona beer box, according to the Miami Herald.
Police could not find anything legally wrong with Firefighter Johnson’s pictures. However, Mayor Carlos Hernandez recommended the suspension, citing “conduct unbecoming” and “insubordination or disgraceful conduct” and for “criticizing rules, orders and policies.”
Firefighter Johnson has long been a vocal critic of Hernandez and his administration, namely its handling of city finances, and maintains the punishment is politically-fueled, according to the article.
If the suspension is upheld, it would be his first disciplinary action in his 10-year career.
