MELROSE, Mass. — Melrose firefighters freed a two-year-old boy and a dog from a hot locked vehicle on Saturday.

Firefighters from Ladder 1 were called to Cottage Street about 5:45 p.m.

The boy’s mother was putting him and the dog in the Honda Pilot, when he hit the lock button while the keys were still in the vehicle. The child was too young to follow instructions to unlock the door.
