BARRINGTON, R.I. — Three teenagers and a firefighter continue to recover Tuesday after a scary scene in Barrington one night prior.
There are signs posted at Brickyard Pond that say, “no skating,” which is what the town’s fire department said the boys were doing after dark on Monday when all three fell through the ice.
One of the teens managed to get himself out and call 911. When firefighters arrived on scene, they said they had a difficult time locating the hole in the ice. Eventually, Lt. Edward Owens saw hockey sticks near a hole behind some brush and he jumped in, fearing the worst.
