SAINT ALBANS, W. Va. — A volunteer firefighter was hit by a vehicle while directing traffic near a water distribution site.
WOWKtv reported that firefighter Jonathan Boggs was directing traffic when a car he stopped swerved to drive around him and hit him. Firefighter Boggs reportedly argued with the driver before he swerved, according to the report. The driver hit firefighter Boggs’ knee with the bumper on the car. Another firefighter witnessed the event.
A deputy near the scene stopped the driver. The driver told the deputy his vehicle was overheating and leaking fluid and he was trying to keep his car from breaking down, according to the report.
The deputy issued a citation to the driver for leaving the scene of a crash and reckless driving, according to the report.
