SHREVEPORT, La. — Two firefighters were taken to the hospital Monday after their ladder truck rolled over on a highway.
Shreveport Fire Chief Scott Wolverton said crews were responding to an EMS call when the truck flipped on its side.
“In response to the call, they made the turn and overturned,” Chief Wolverton said. “Right now, we don’t know all the details that were involved.”
Witnesses told KSLA News that other vehicles were not yielding to the fire truck, which was going so fast it was “on two wheels” when it crashed.
According to another witness, one firefighter was thrown from the engine, but was able to get up and talk.
“Both of them were able to exit on their own power,” Chief Wolverton said. “They have been transported to an area hospital to be checked out. There appears to be no life-threatening injuries.”
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
