DC fire truck struck by car, 4 firefighters hurt

The firefighters were on their way to an apartment fire when a car pulled out in front of the rig

WASHINGTON — Eight people were injured in a crash involving a D.C. fire truck Saturday night.

FOX5DC reported that firefighters were on their way to an apartment fire when a car pulled out in front of the rig.

The car was crushed and the fire truck received minor damage to the front bumper. Firefighters had to cut the people out of the car. Eight people, including four firefighters, were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Another rig had to be called to respond to the apartment fire.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire. One person at the scene of the fire was transported to a hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
