TIMBERLEA, Nova Scotia — A 19-year-old woman was killed after a fire truck and vehicle collided Thursday.

Officials said firefighters were responding to a call when the crash occurred; the woman died at the scene, reported CBC.

Halifax Regional Fire Deputy Chief Roy Hollett said four firefighters were on the rig when the crash occurred.

“We did have one firefighter who was assessed at the scene and taken to hospital with injuries. Fortunately, he was later released,” he said.

Chief Hollett said a critical incident stress management team was on site to “make sure everyone is OK and we’ll continue to do that over the next couple of days.”

This is the third fatality involving a fire truck in the last 30 years in the area.

Officials are investigating the crash.
