Firefighter struck by fire truck, critically injured

Lt. Lyle Crandall was run over by the front tires of the rig; he suffered traumatic injury to his left foot and both legs

PONCA CITY, Okla. — A firefighter is in critical condition after he was run over by a fire truck Friday afternoon.

KFOR.com reported that Lt. Lyle Crandall, with the Ponca City Fire Department, and one other firefighter were on a special detail when reports for a grass fire came in. They went back to the fire station to pick up a brush pumper. During the transfer, Lt. Crandall was run over by the front tires of the rig.

Crandall sustained a traumatic injury to his left foot and both legs. He received immediate treatment from colleagues. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital and later flown to a medical center.
