This week’s Photo of the Week shows how Denver firefighters turned a water rescue training drill into an impromptu teachable moment for local kids.
The firefighters were training in a lake when a child’s skateboard fell into the water nearby. As the kids started to take off their shirts and shoes, prepared to jump into the lake themselves, firefighters quickly stopped them and educated them on the dangers of going into the lake, especially when the water is cold.
The firefighters then retrieved the skateboard for the kids, allowing them to ride off safely.
