Firefighters rescued three people from a two-alarm fire, including a pregnant woman and child

WEST MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Firefighters rescued three people, including a child and a pregnant woman from the porch roof of a burning Pa. home.

Firefighters arrived on the scene Sunday night to find the woman and child along with the woman’s boyfriend stranded on the roof as the fire and smoke spread, according to the York Dispatch.

Sue and Bill Zimmerman were about to sleep when their dog started barking. The couple realized that the rear of their home was on fire with flames reaching the second story of the house.

Crews used a ladder to reach the roof and were able to guide them to the ground safely.

Firefighters from nine different fire companies battled the blaze and were able to extinguish it in about 20 minutes.

The three residents of the home were uninjured and no firefighters were hurt.

An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire.
