LANHAM, Md. — An off-duty firefighter is being hailed as a hero after saving a woman’s life last week.
WJLA reported that D.C. firefighter Jeff Beach saw a two-vehicle collision on his way home and rushed to help the woman, who was trapped in her overturned car. D.C. Fire and EMS said that upon entering he noticed she had “a partial amputation of her left arm.”
Beach used his belt as a tourniquet to stop the bleeding and she was transported to a nearby trauma center. Paramedics said Beach’s actions saved the woman’s life, FOX5DC reported.
D.C. Fire and EMS said Beach also called 911 and made sure the driver from the other vehicle involved was transported from the scene.
