FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Santa Claus is safe and sound thanks to firefighters who rescued him from a rooftop Sunday afternoon.
WANE reported that Santa got “stuck” on the roof of the Fort Wayne (Ind.) Firefighters Museum with no way down. After firefighters safely lowered him to the ground, he visited with kids inside the museum.
Museum leaders said they were pleased with the turnout of around 300 people for the first-time event.
“We really didn’t know how this was going to go. We thought maybe we’ll get 1,000 people in here, maybe we’ll get 10. We didn’t know, but it definitely did work out and there’s a bigger crowd than I thought we’d have for the first year,” Dennis Giere, the vice president of the museum, said.
Firefighters hope to make the event a yearly tradition.
