KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — No injuries were reported in a traffic crash Sunday when a Knoxville Fire Department district chief’s SUV collided with a pickup truck while en route to a reported fire alarm at a North Peters Road hotel.
The collision occurred at 12:14 p.m. along Kingston Pike, just east of Northshore Drive, according to KFD Capt. D.J. Corcoran.
KFD District Chief Fred Baty was driving a KFD Chevrolet Suburban with its lights and siren activated when a Ford F-250 quadcab pulled out of Bearden Center and the two vehicles collided, Corcoran said.
The Ford’s driver and his two daughters were not hurt, while Baty was taken to an area hospital for an evaluation, per KFD protocol, Corcoran said.
It was not immediately clear whether the Ford’s driver, who was not named, is to be cited or charged.
