KNYSNA, South Africa — A South African firefighter died after suffering severe burns while battling a wildland fire.
Star Tribune reported that the firefighter was fighting a wildfire at a popular tourist attraction; the effort to put out the blaze is now under control. He suffered burns to 70 percent of his body.
The fire started earlier this week and has displaced 10,000 civilians. A total of 10 deaths have occurred.
Another firefighter who suffered burns to 50 percent of his body is in critical condition.
