BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo firefighters needed an hour to contain a two-alarm fire that broke out in a 2 1/2-story structure at 698 Prospect Ave. at around 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

According to social media posts, a Mayday call was canceled after a firefighter bailed out of a window and was accounted for.

A tweet from Spectrum News said the "very large" fire was on the first floor and that it was hard to see through the thick smoke.
