CARMEL, Ind. — The Carmel Fire Department responded to a fire alarm and sprinkler activation on Sept. 16 at a dealership’s maintenance department.

Firefighters faced an electric vehicle fire on a lift. While they mostly extinguished the fire, complete suppression was difficult due to lithium-ion battery risks.

The car was lowered onto dollies and, with a forklift, moved outside. Firefighters continued to extinguish the fire during this process. The car was then loaded onto a flatbed, followed by a fire engine to a salvage yard.
