Texas firefighter in stable condition after being trapped in collapse

A Fort Worth firefighter sustained multiple injuries and was flown to Parkland Health in Dallas

FORT WORTH, Texas — A two-alarm house fire in Fort Worth’s Historic Southside neighborhood injured two firefighters, trapping one, officials said.

One firefighter was trapped in the garage on Sept. 3 when the structure collapsed, but was rescued and flown to Parkland Health in Dallas, NBC DFW reported.

“Crews were making their way into the home to try to put water on the fire,” Fort Worth Fire’s Craig Trojeck said. “There was a collapse of the garage, which came down on one of our firefighters. A mayday was called.”

WFAA reported that the trapped firefighter sustained multiple injuries, including burns, and is currently in stable condition in the burn unit.

A second firefighter was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Their conditions have not yet been released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
