DELAWARE COUNTY, Ohio — A fire department’s boat capsized while searching for a missing kayaker.
ABC6onyourside.com reported that the Genoa Township Fire Department boat began taking on water as crew members tried to get it to shore. The crew on board jumped into the water and rolled the boat to climb on top of it. No one was injured.
Crews went back out into the water to search for the missing kayaker, who witnesses said went missing Monday night after taking on water. The kayaker then went underwater and disappeared.
Search and rescue teams were unable to find the kayaker; officials said it appeared that life jackets were not in use during the incident.
