FORT WORTH, Texas — Someone dropped off a newborn baby at a Fort Worth Fire Station on Thursday morning, officials said.

The baby was just hours old when it turned up about 8:30 a.m. at Fire Station 38 located at 13280 Park Vista Blvd. The child appeared to be in good health, according to the Fort Worth Fire Department.

Station 38, like all Fort Worth fire stations, is a “safe baby site” that gives parents a “confidential and safer alternative” to abandoning an infant, officials said.

Firefighters cared for the baby until Child Protective Services picked the child up Thursday.
