ORLANDO, Fla. — Four firefighters are recovering at home after their fire truck was struck by a vehicle Sunday while they responded to a call.
WFTV reported that the Orlando Fire Department firefighters were helping someone whose vehicle was stalled on the highway when another vehicle slammed into their engine.
The firefighters were not seriously injured, and they pulled two people out of the vehicle and had them transported to the hospital.
The department said this is the second time in two months that a fire truck has been struck while on a call, and urged the public to use caution.
Slow down if you see an emergency vehicle. Pull over to the right and yield,” OFD Chief Roderick Williams said. “If you can do that, we can save lives. Our job is to save and protect lives. We can’t do that if we’re injured ourselves.”
