HAMILTON, New Zealand. — As Hamilton wallowed under a cloud of stink yesterday afternoon, a jammed public toilet door turned one man’s relief into desperation.
The unsuspecting tourist stepped into Cambridge’s superloo just after 5pm.
Things flowed normally until he turned to leave. The sliding door jammed, imprisoning him in the cubicle of an unfamiliar town.
Cambridge Fire Brigade chief fire officer Don Gerrand said the victim spent half an hour yelling for somebody, anybody, to help.
But nobody came to his aid. As a last resort he dialled 111.
Firefighters wrenched open the door and freed him about 5.40pm.
