HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Residents of a Kansas city had an impromptu block party when a house in their neighborhood went up in flames.
When firefighters arrived to put out the fire, dozens of neighbors gathered in front of the home drinking beer and celebrating.
Sherry Treece, who lives in the apartment building behind the burning home, told the Hutchinson News that the people who lived in the home were “notorious in the area for attracting crime and drug users, make it unsafe for her children.”
The report said police were at the home before it started burning to respond to a dispute between the residents and a neighbor. 45 Forty-five minutes later, the house started burning. It is unclear what caused the fire.
Fire Capt. Doug Hanen said he had never seen people celebrate a house fire before.
