MINT HILL, N.C. Three fire departments were on the scene of a house fire in Mint Hill early Wednesday.

Crews were called to the home around 3 a.m. at in the 7200 block of Forrest Rader Drive. A family of five lived at the home. A 25-year-old son woke up his family after he smelled smoke. “About two minutes after we ran out and got to the side of the house, that’s when the roof blew,” Kevin Stanfield Jr. said.

There were two cars in the garage and a explosion was heard by neighbors. The fire chief said the home is most likely a total loss. The roof is completely gone and the windows are blown out.
