Md. firefighters rescue horse trapped in snow

Firefighters set up a rigging system to help lift the horse upright; a veterinarian is now treating the horse

SPRINGDALE, Md. — Firefighters helped rescue a horse trapped in a barn by heavy snow Thursday morning.

WUSA9 reported that the horse was either sick or injured and had become so exhaused from trying to free itself that it collapsed.

Firefighters set up a rigging system to help lift the horse upright, according to the report.

Experts on the scene said it is not good for a sick horse to be laying down for an extended period of time, according to the report.

A veterinarian at the scene is now treating the horse.
