Fired fire investigator fights for job back

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Monday night, Charlotte City Council members spent hours behind closed doors discussing two reports involving the Charlotte Fire Department.

The first relating to a city worker who was fired over a Facebook post. Former Charlotte Fire Investigator Crystal Eschert has filed an appeal of the decision made by the Charlotte Civil Service Board.

In March, Eschert went before the Civil Service Board to determine whether the board could hear her appeal. The board ruled that it was not in their jurisdiction to hear the appeal.
