MADISONVILLE, Texas — A dispatcher received a nerve-wracking call from her daughter about their house catching fire over the weekend.
Dispatcher Layla Wray answered her teenage daughter’s 911 call, who told her the back porch of their home was on fire. Wray’s husband and son were attempting to get the dogs out of the house.
Officials said Wray remained calm throughout the five-minute call, reported NBC26.
“She did an outstanding job,” Madison County Sheriff Travis Neely said. “She did what she was trained to do. How many people can sit there and do this job and take a call from their own child?”
The home was a total loss; a GoFundMe page was created to raise funds for the family. Over $9,000 has been raised so far.
