BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. — Blount County firefighters were on the scene of trailer fire at 6038 Happy Valley Road in Maryville Monday evening.
However, there was a slight problem. The unidentified homeowner did not want firefighters to extinguish the fire.
Blount County Sheriff’s Office deputies were also on the scene to talk to the homeowner to convince him to let the firefighters do their job, which they were finally allowed to do.
It was not known why the homeowner did not want the firefighters to put the fire out.
“It is an out-of-control fire,” said Blount County Fire Chief Doug McClanahan. “We have an obligation to put it out.”
Firefighters had the fire under control, but one of the home’s residents was en route to the hospital after suffering from minor burns attempting to help put the fire out, McClanahan said.
