3 La. firefighters plead not guilty to cruelty, prostitution charges

The trio pleaded not guilty to paying a prostitute to have sex with one of the victims and peeping through a window to watch the sex act

SHREVEPORT, La. — Five Shreveport firefighters charged with the routine abuse of two mentally challenged men are taking the rap for abuse that occurred at the station over a period of time, according to one of their lawyers. Shreveport attorney Peter Flowers, who represents engineer Clift Richardson, said what’s happening to the accused firefighters is unnecessary and inappropriate.

“The allegations made against these men are a number of accusations that have piled up over the years with regard to a number of different people,” Flowers said. “But to take them all and to assess them against one individual makes the situation look much worse than what it actually is. … To lay all that at the feet of these poor firemen I think is unfortunate and inappropriate.”

Richardson, Billy Glass and Jason Vaughan stood before a Caddo district judge Wednesday denying their involvement in the alleged abuse at Fire Station No. 8. The trio also pleaded not guilty before Judge Ramona Emanuel to paying a prostitute to have sex with one of the victims and peeping through a window to watch the sex act.
