DENVER — Newly-released video shows suspected firefighter impersonator Michael Maher behind the High Park Fire line.
Maher, who was arrested and charged for impersonating a firefighter at the fire earlier this summer, can be seen in a promotional video shot by the Colorado National Guard.
In the clip, he is seen dressed in firefighting gear asking guardsman for directions on how to get to the High Park Fire, according to KDVR.
Court documents say Maher had gone to the Rist Canyon fire station near the fire and told two firefighters he was assigned to them. Because he was wearing gear, the firefighters assumed he was with a federal agency and allowed him to ride along.
Firefighters reported that Maher played loud music and sang to Journey so loudly that no one could hear the command radio.
He was eventually arrested and charged with impersonating a firefighter.
