NAPLES PARK, Fla. — A Florida firefighter is recovering after being struck by a fire hydrant during a house fire in North Naples.

North Collier Fire District Firefighter Susana Webb was injured when a hoseline, wrapped around the hydrant, became caught on the fire engine and was pulled tight, causing the hydrant to break away and strike Webb, WINK reported.

She was flown to Gulf Coast Medical Center, where she underwent several hours of surgery.

“Susana is doing amazing,” North Collier Fire District PIO Heather Mazuriewic said. “She is a force of positivity and love and determination and passion, so all of those attributes are coming through right now.”

In a Facebook post, the department addressed inaccuracies and misinformation about the incident.
