IRVING, Texas — A delivery driver spotted a fire at one of Irving’s fire stations while its crew was responding to an emergency call, the department said.
The driver noticed smoke and flames from the front of Fire Station 9 on Nov. 9 and reported the blaze, CBS Texas reported.
Why do we care more about ensuring the firehouse grass is sprinklered than the firehouse itself?
Firefighters quickly contained and extinguished the fire in the kitchen and living room, officials reported. The bathroom and sleeping quarters sustained heavy smoke damage, but no injuries occurred, and equipment in the apparatus bay was not damaged.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Firefighters assigned to Station 9 will work out of a nearby firehouse until they can return.
