Police arrest suspect in pickup-apparatus crash that killed Tenn. firefighter

The man faces seven charges, including reckless vehicular homicide and failure to stop for an emergency vehicle

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police officers have arrested a suspect in the vehicle crash that killed a Memphis firefighter in August.

Maurice Yarbrough, 39, is facing seven separate charges, including reckless vehicular homicide, failure to stop for an emergency vehicle and disregarding a red light, ActionNews5 reported.

In August, a pickup driver ran a red light and struck the fire apparatus, causing it to roll onto its side, the U.S. Fire Administration said. The crew had been responding to a house fire.

Driver David Pleasant, 59, died. Three other people were injured in the crash.

Pleasant was survived by his four children.
