SCOTT COUNTY, Va. — A firefighter has died after fighting a wildfire in Scott County.
The Virginia Department of Forestry said Part-Time Firefighter James C. Ward collapsed on March 30 while working with hand crews, WCYB reported.
Ward had been a firefighter with the Department of Forestry since 1998.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
