MUSKEGON, Mich. — Two Muskegon firefighters sent a rare “mayday” distress call while fighting a basement blaze on Wednesday at a home on East Grand Avenue.
Muskegon Fire Battalion Chief Gordon Cole said the two men did not suffer injuries. Only one male resident was inside the two-story home at the time of the fire, but he exited with assistance and without injury.
Firefighters arrived at the home at 5:58 p.m. responding to a basement fire. A five-man crew quickly entered, two of which headed for the basement.
